Annual research money
A fixed sum is awarded to all permanent scientific employees, as well as postdoctoral fellows and research fellows at the Department of Psychology. For temporary employees on external projects only expenses that can't be charged to the project's operating costs will be covered.
The fixed sum/annum can't be transferred from one year to another, the only exception is for postdocs/doctoral research fellows (who are allowed to use a fixed total sum more freely during their employment period). The sums allocated are decided annually in connection with the budget work.
Allocated funds (section, mobility and strategic) can't be transferred from one year to another.
Rates 2023:
- 20 000 NOK for permanent academic employees
- 20 000 NOK for postdocs and doctoral research fellows
- Emeriti can apply for up to 5 000 in research related activities. You can not apply for funding for the purchase of computer equipment for the funds
- Staff in adjunct positions (professor II's) may apply for funding from their respective section
How to use your annual research money
Please contact okonomi-hjelp@sv.uio.no for your personal sub-project number if you can't find it in this overview or want to know what have been charged to your sub-project. See also more information on the sub-project numbers from the Faculty.
The funds can be used to cover expenses for research related activitites like hiring of research assistants, literature, shorter travels, meetings, copy editing, conferences and other activities in connection with research.
Please note the following when placing lunch orders or dinner reservations: Because of Auditor General's remarks, UiO now require attendance lists to all events/meetings when ordering food and restaurant visits (i.e. invitations with name/email where recipients/recipient lists appear). The program of the event should ideally also be attached. Remember to write whether the event is for internal participants (UiO staff) or external participants (or both).

Internal Research Funding 2023
We have allocated NOK 3 000 000 in research funding to be distributed to the sections. Head of section will inform on how to apply for this money. The Section for Clinical Practice and Training receives NOK 250 000.
The Department of Psychology will announce a call for funding aimed at strategic research activities.
