NOK 16 million to research diabetes among immigrants from South Asia

Celebrating Norway’s biggest cancer success turning ten years old
Algeta is considered to be the greatest success in pharmaceutical research and development in Norway in recent times. Founder and professor emeritus Øyvind Bruland has no plans to give up. Ten years after the Algeta success Xofigo, his focus is still ‘metastatic cancer’.

New campus leader at UiO Campus South
UiO’s first external campus is ready for the start of studies and the official opening in August. UiO: Survey about research content on UiO's website. A professional web presence for UiO research, researchers, and research groups, is required to reach out to all collaborators and stakeholders, including funding bodies (also the new funding sources we are looking for). Input from researchers is crucial for this effort to succeed. Academic staff at UiO is therefore invited to respond to an online survey. The survey takes 5-7 minutes to complete. It is open through Monday 19 June.

Does your work involve rare diseases? The European Rare Diseases Partnership has prepared a Strategy Document - Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). They are now asking for input: The deadline is 9 June. SRIA is an important document that forms the basis for the thematic orientation of calls for proposals and other activities under the partnership. The consultation is open to all interested parties and comments can be made on this page.

Uniforum: UiO must emphasize sustainability and not price in meeting food tenders (in Norwegian) Over the next four years, UiO will purchase meeting food for 90 million. The suppliers must be selected based on who supplies the most sustainable food, and they will not be ranked based on price.

Helsam: The Centre for Medical Ethics (SME) offers an annual course in research ethics. In 2018, SME and the faculty signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) formalising ethics collaboration with FERCAP and the ethical assessment committees at three medical faculties in Thailand.

Uniforum: - Merging the faculties has been on the cards for several years. While others at the Faculty of Dentistry are showing resistance, Professor Linda Bergersen sees great advantages in merging the Faculty of Dentistry and medicine. She now encourages a willingness to change.

UiO: Sign up for the Summer Activity Day. Thursday 15 June is UiO’s Summer Activity Day. You can cycle in the countryside, get a guided tour of the Botanical Garden, climb at Tryvann or go hiking in the countryside and ‘along the tracks’.
- Cycle to UiO. UiO also has its own cycling campaign – where all activity lasting at least 30 minutes to work can be registered. Cocaine use receives a lot of media attention, with stories about influencers at parties and russ at risk. Has cocaine use become commonplace?
IMB: We can do without compulsory measures in the next pandemic in Norwegian Thomas Olafsen.
Compulsory measures during the pandemic only had an effect in the larger cities, while recommendations elsewhere in the country were sufficient.
Klinmed: The same genes related to both cannabis use and serious mental disorders by Julie Nybakk Kvaal. A new study indicates that some individuals are more prone to both using cannabis and developing mental disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, than others.
